Module & Pack Welding – Ellsworth Facility (Battery Lab 2.0)

Many applications require energy storage beyond a single cell. In these cases, cells are assembled into modules, and modules are combined into full packs. Reliable, precise joining methods are essential for performance and safety at scale.

At the Ellsworth Road facility, the Battery Lab offers fully automated module and pack welding using the Manz BLS-500 laser system. This robotic platform enables high-precision, repeatable welds for a variety of cell and module formats, supporting users from prototype development through pilot-scale assembly.

Capabilities

  • Automated laser welding for module and pack assembly
  • Precision tab-to-busbar joining with high repeatability
  • Configurable for pouch and cylindrical cell designs
  • Integrated quality control features to support consistent builds

These tools give users the ability to prototype and validate modules and packs under production-like conditions, without the capital investment of building their own line.
